As I write this, Bob has just returned from supply chain software solutions leader Manhattan Associates’ Momentum 2008 User Conference at the Rosen Shingle Creek Resort in Orlando. What a week! Not only did Bob “wow” the 1,300 attendees with his mindreading and message, but he also emceed and enlivened the general sessions - as only Bob can - sharing the stage with Peyton and Archie Manning, as well as trading jokes and friendly jibes with Saturday Night Live’s Darrell Hammond. Conference attendees said they had “never seen anyone like Bob” ... and right after the event, the Chief Marketing Officer had this to say:
Bob next departs for Scottsdale, Arizona and the 2008 National Sales Conference for Medical Action Industries - the leading manufacturer and distributor of operating room disposable supplies. He will be delivering the meeting’s opening motivational keynote and will also be adding to the fun and festivities in the PM, as he emcees the evening’s awards banquet.
The MAI engagement kicks off a schedule that will keep Bob airport hopping! With 4 associates onboard at the Microsoft Tech Ed Conference in Orlando, June will see Bob in Anaheim for the Design Automation Conference, then Denver for the Association for Professionals in Infection Control and Epidemiology Conference, followed by Boston for the Drug Information Association’s Conference, and finally - with 2 associates again in Orlando for Cisco Live! - Bob heads to the sunny city himself for the National Apartment Association’s Conference. Whew!
But, before forging further into what’s up for Q3 & 4 ‘08 – let’s look back to the end of 2007 and the start of this year!
Picking Up Where We Left Off ... Fall 2007
Bob started off September ’07 in Baltimore at the ABB Corporation’s Americas Sales Summit mesmerizing and mystifying the 150 employee-attendees not only during the general sessions, but also at the various evenings’ extravaganzas!
From Baltimore, he headed to San Francisco and VMWorld with client Network Appliance. Also onboard at that show was Leslie Chambers with client EMC. Then it was off to Denver for PASS 2007 with client Quest Software. As Bob departed Denver for his next stop, Leslie Chambers was enroute to San Antonio for client EMC and the Society of Exploration Geophysicists’ Conference. Touching down in Atlanta, Bob hopped into a sporty G6 and headed west on the
I-20 for Anniston, Alabama – where he was set to deliver seminars - on two different evenings - for the civilian and military employees of the US Army’s Anniston Army Depot. The 2,000 good people at this facility perform maintenance on heavy-tracked combat vehicles and their components. The Director of Activities wrote this to Bob immediately after the event:
Onward Into October
October 1st, Bob was Boston-bound for the financial services industry’s premier event, SIBOS. There with client and leading inter-bank solutions provider Sterling Commerce, associate Leslie Chambers was also onboard at the show – again with client EMC. Directly after the conference, Bob impressed guests at a hospitality gathering for transaction processing solutions leaderFundtech and then made the short hop up to Philadelphia for client Smart Document Solutions (now Healthport) at AHIMA. Also onboard at AHIMA was Leslie Chambers for client Axolotl. (Bob and Leslie were major road warriors those two weeks!)
Heading
back to California - just long enough to collect his passport and a change of
luggage -Bob winged to Milan, Italy. Final
destination:breath-taking Baveno and
the Grand Hotel Dino on the shore of magnificent Lake Maggiore for ABB’s European Sales Summit. Bob’s participation didn’t need any
translation for the multi-lingual employees in attendance. (This was the second
meeting in ABB’s Summit 2007 tour.) Again ... what a week and what a location!
Next up was absolute back-to-back events, starting with Interop New York with long time client Avocent, followed by the National Society for Histotechnology’s conference in Denver with client Triangle Biomedical Sciences and ending with VON in Boston with client Ditech Networks! (Red-eyeing from Denver to Boston - Bob was really happy the airlines were “behaving” that night!)
November saw Bob at Checkfree’s Client Exchange in Hollywood, CA at the gorgeous Renaissance Hotel – right next door to the Kodak Theatre (of Academy Award’s fame!). Bob gave an “Oscar-winning” performance as he astonished Checkfree’s customers with his mindreading skills and intuitive insights! (The pictures here tells all!)
Then it was off to San Francisco for Quest Software and Oracle Open World where Bob pulled crowds and crowds of attendees to hear Quest’s message.
Immediately on the heals of OOW, Bob flew to Austin, Texas for Scott Health and Safety’s National Sales Meeting, and then as Leslie Chambers left for Chicago and the RSNA with client EMC ... Bob headed down to Los Angeles for yet another red-eye, but this time to Bangkok, Thailand for the third and final of ABB’s world regional meetings - the Asia Sales Summit!
The time in Bangkok was short – but amazing. The massive city provided sights and sensations unlike anything experienced before. Cruising the ChaoPhraya River, visiting WatPhraKeo on the Royal Palace’s grounds (during the 80th Birthday Anniversary of King Bhumibhol), standing at the foot of the massive Reclining Buddha, and eating the most exquisite dinner of Thai delicacies on the lawn of former Prime Minister M.R. Kukrit'shouse ... all unforgettable.
And when it came to Bob’s participation during the meeting, once again – no translation was needed. The Australia/Asia reps were enchanted! Here is what the Manager of Marketing wrote, after the final Summit:
Arriving back from Bangkok, Bob’s 2007 calendar wrapped with a “Make the Magic Happen” presentation for a gathering of Northern California independent Mona Vie dealers. These highly motivated and inspired representatives purchased every single back-of-room product that Bob had! We are pleased that so many were inspired by what Bob had presented ... and the message his books and CDs reinforce. What an uplifting way it was to end the year!
2008 – January’s Jaunts
The New Year started with Bob heading for the National Retail Federation’s conference in NYC. Bob was onboard with client Cognizant Technologies, while associate Dave Levitan was with new client (at the time!) Manhattan Associates at the show.
As soon as the floor closed, Bob ran to JFK and boarded a red-eye to San Francisco for Calypso Technology’s 2008 Sales Kick-Off, where he delivered the meeting’s motivational keynote. Only a few days later, Bob jetted across the States again to “kick off” Manhattan Associates’ Global Sales Kick-Off in Atlanta! (This was a totally different event than their User Conference mentioned at the beginning of the page.)
February found Bob working with McAfee Internet Security on multiple-city road shows. In the weeks that followed, Bob traveled to special hospitality events in Houston, Santa Clara, and Minneapolis for high level executives and top customers reinforcing the McAfee message. What fun!
Then, Bob was off to San Diego and IHRSA 2008 with client CheckFree, while associate Leslie Chambers flew to AIIM in Boston for client EMC. Associate David Levitan winged into San Jose for VON 2008 and voice quality solutions provider, Ditech Networks, while Bob crossed the country to join client Cardinal Health at the Society for Interventional Radiology in WashingtonDC – for the 3rd year in a row. (And Bob will be with them again in San Diego for the 2009 conference.)
Here’s what the VP of Marketing at Cardinal Health Interventional Specialties had to say about Bob:
Wow – that
tells you a lot about how effective Bob is in helping his clients increase
their sales and their trade show ROI!
Let’s
keep going … It was no April Fool’s joke that associate Marc Paul jetted in from
the UK to work with Ditech Networks
at the CTIA in Vegas while, at the
same time, Bob was in another hall at the massive Vegas Convention Center with
the Pizza Expo (yum!) and client Wayne Farms. The following week, associate
tech presenter Bill Jones touched down in San Francisco for the RSA Security Show and Facetime Communications, and Leslie
Chambers winged to Vegas and presented EMC’s
message - for the 2nd year - at the NAB. Then it was off to Boston for Bob for a private PSI party – one of many private events
that Bob does throughout the year - followed by 2 more McAfee road show projects in Boston and NYC. Leslie Chambers and Stevee Ashlock traveled to Vegas (yet
again!) for client Avocent at Networld Interop, while Bill Jones
joined client Mellanox Technologies
at the show.
May started with Barry Tamarkin impressing the customers at another McAfee event in Atlanta, while Dave Levitan headed down to Orlando for client Network Appliance and SAPphire 2008. Marc Paul winged from London to Berlin, Germany to work with Network Appliance at SAPphire EMEA and Bob, booked a year in advance, grabbed his passport - and boarded a flight to Cancun Mexico and the fabulous Ritz Carlton for his 3rd year in a row as the “meeting’s motivator” and beloved emcee for Clopay’s Annual Leadership Conference. (And ... Bob was asked back to the 2009 conference. Year #4! )
And that brings us up date regarding 2008!
